NBN SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Thank you for your interest in NBN. While we welcome all submissions, NBN is especially interested in publishers with established programs and new titles every year.

CRITERIA

NBN's Sales and Marketing Team considers many criteria when assessing potential new publishers. Here are the elements we look for:

  • Well-designed trade covers and interiors
  • Solid business plan
  • Strong publicity and promotional plans
  • Looking to grow their business by publishing titles each year.
  • NBN selects new publishers that will compliment our existing client. Please review NBN's publisher list by using the Our Publishers link found on this page.

    • ONE-BOOK PUBLISHERS

    NBN does not encourage submissions from publishers with single, self-published titles. Publishers with single-title lists should contact one of the numerous distributors who work with startup self-publishers.

    RESPONSE TIME

    NBN receives hundreds of new submissions per year, and we evaluate each one. Therefore, though our Sales and Marketing Team meets regularly, please allow 4-6 weeks for a response. If you provide your email address, we can give you our decision more quickly.

    NBN'S CATALOG SCHEDULE

    NBN produces six adult and three children's catalogs per year and presents each catalog to our Sales Reps well in advance of publication dates. So, keep in mind that we need to review your titles at least 6 months prior to their publication dates. Our catalog schedule makes it easy for new clients to join us because if you miss one catalog deadline, there's always another one on its heels.

    WHAT YOUR PACKAGE SHOULD INCLUDE

  • A copy of your best-selling titles (or artwork, page spreads or galleys for books in production)
  • A completed Prospective Publisher Questionnaire
  • Any recent advertising and reviews for your titles.
  • Current catalog, if available.
